Text (English translation)Court 12 August 1381 ... And [they say] that John Martyn, Peter Blakeman and Ranulph Kempstone were aiders and abbetors in the burning of the court rolls, custumals, rentals and other muniments of this manor. ... It is ordered to seize into the hand of the lady all bond tenements of this manor whatsoever regarding and answer about the crop and the value. It is ordered to seize into the hand of the lady all the lands and tenements which Ranulph de Kempstone held of the lady and to appraise the crop and answer the lady about the crop and its value for the trespasses and contempt against the lady during the horrible time. The whole homage is ordered to make a new custumal and a new rental calling to mind which services are rendered at this manor whatsoever regarding and also to make a new roll of suit of court. (Court and leet 3 October 1381) ... The homage is fined 40s because they did not produce a new custumal, a new rental nor a new roll of suit of court. They are ordered to to this until the next feast of Purification of the blessed Mary [2 February]
