Text (English translation)Inquisition, taken at Lamberhurst in the county of Kent on Monday next after the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the fifth year of the reign of Richard, king of England and France, before John Newenton, escheator of the lord king in the aforesaid county, by the oath of Simon Childemell, John Maycote, William atte Hale, Thomas Thomas, John Lynderegg, John Grig, William Hameman, Richard Michel, John Salot, Robert Berme, Robert Trome and John Wyker. Who say upon their oath that a certain John Couceherst of Lamberhurst, aforesaid, who was convicted and beheaded before the justices of the lord king in the county of Sussex for diverse treasons and felonies in a certain insurrection, made against the lord king and his subjects on Wednesday in the eve of Corpus Christi in the month of June in the fourth year of the same king, did not have any goods and chattels in the aforesaid county of Kent. And they say that the same John Couesherst held on the day, on which he was convicted in his demesne as of fee one tenement, which is worth nothing per annum beyond reprise, 37 acres of arable land, whereof each acre is worth per annum beyond reprise 4d, five acres of meadow, whereof each acre is worth per annum beyond reprise 6d, 50 acres of pasture, whereof each acre is worth per annum beyond reprise 2d, 20 acres of large wood, which are worth nothing per annum beyond reprise, because there is not underwood there. And they say that the aforesaid lands and tenements with appurtenances, lying in the vills of Lamberhurst, Brenchley and Hadlow in the aforesaid county of Kent ... ... ... viz the lord abbot of Bayham ... ... ... 4½d rent per annum from the abbess ... for service 6d ... ... ...
