Text (English translation)[Middleton or Milton Hall] Court held there on Monday after the feast of the Nativity of the blessed Mary 5 Richard II namely after the rumour etc. It was ordered to seize into the hand of the lord all bond lands and tenements of this manor because of the uprising and rebellion of the tenants against the lord who, together with other malefactors burnt the court rolls, extents, feodaries [book of feudal services] and other muniments of the lord of this manor. And it is attested by the bailiff that this was true. And upon this John Bygood and his wife Margaret came and requested to be (re)admitted out of the lord's mercy to one acre of land with a house built on it which had been seized out of their hands for the aforesaid reason, and they offer the lord a fine to have the aforesaid tenement back, whereupon the lord by his steward grants them the aforesaid tenements to hold of the lord for himself and the heirs and assigns of the said John for old [i.e., the same as before] and customary services at the will of the lord. Saving the right etc. And they give the lord the fine as stated. And they swear fealty [in the margin 13d].
