Text (English translation)Inquisition held at Butleigh, 6 September 1381, into the goods and chattels of John Palmere of ? which he had in the county of Somerset on 16 July 1381, the day he was charged with treason and insurrection by Peter de Courtenay and his fellow justices to suppress and pacify all insurrections, conventicles and congragations against the peace of the King and to chastise and punish all treasons and disturbances of the peace, and with others indicted before the said justices he fled and it was adjudged that their goods should be forfeit, as appears by the records and rolls of the said justices. And the jurors, viz Thomas Carsbronk, John Eyr, William Hull, Walter Auneys, John Launtenale, Thomas Smyth, Thomas Cale, John Shoute, William Porter, John Wygere, John Dronke and William Deye, say that John Palmere granted all his goods and chattels to John Meriet, knight, William Banastre, John by the Well and John Knyght of Chewton Mendip on 6 June 1379 and have remained their possession ever since; the goods and chattels are valued at £10; they are in the hands of John Eyr and William Hill of Middlezoy.
