| Text (English translation) | Escheator inquisition by Robert Loxle, escheator in the county of Surrey, held in Guildford (Surrey), 27 July 1381 By oath of John Wodeland, Roger Kenrith, Henry Gode, William Taillour, William Merwe(?), John Glovere, Adam Payntour, Thomas Wysebeche, Nicholas Boghiere, Richard atte Lee, Henry Lobyere and John Goldsmyth, jurors; the present that Simon atte Preye who has been beheaded because of insurrection and treason ('propter surreccionem et seducionem contra dominum regem et populum suum') has goods and chattels, namely 4 horses, worth 56s 8d; he also has other goods and chattels worth 50s. They also say that John Bonelith who has been beheaded for the same reason ('propter predictam causam') has goods and chattels worth 3s 11d. |
