Text (English translation)Norfolk Henry Lumenour of Norwich appeared on the fourth day through his attorney against Thomas Barkere of Costessey, Robert Wilby, John del Kychyn, Thomas Breton of Hoveton St Peter, Walter Balle, John the son of Walter Balle, John Leminere, Laurence Taillour, Nicholas Grout, Robert de Walsyngham, Robert Bateman, Thomas Coliour, Robert the son of Thomas Colyour, Stephen Melnere, William Nene of Walcott, William Colynson, Thomas Colynson, John Cat of Mundesley, John Daukenes and Thomas Smyth of Sidestrand in a plea of trespass. And they do not appear; but a certain Robert Wilby and others appear, and ask that the aforesaid Henry should plead against them in the aforesaid plea. And the aforesaid Henry says through his attorney that those who now appear are not the same people against whom he brought his writ; but those against whom he sues are called thus: namely Robert Wilby of Hoveton St Peter, John del Kychyn of Hoveton St Peter, Thomas Breton of Hoveton St Peter, Walter Balle of Walcott, John the son of Walter Balle of Walcott, John Leminere of Walcott, Laurence Tailour of Walcott, Nicholas Grout of Walcott, Robert de Walsyngham of Walcott, Robert Bateman of Walcott, Thomas Colioure of Walcott, Robert the son of Thomas Colioure of Walcott, Thomas Coliour of Walcott, Stephen Milnere of Walcott, William Colynson of Mundesley, Thomas Colynson of Mundesley, John Daukeneys of Sidestrand. And the sheriff returns that the aforesaid Thomas Barkere and the others have nothing in his bailiwick etc. Therefore the sheriff is ordered to seize them if etc., and safely etc., so that he has their bodies before the lord king at the octave of Michaelmas wherever etc. And on this the sheriff at the quinzaine of Trinity. And they do not appear; but a certain Richard Moles and others appear, and ask that the aforesaid Henry should plead against them in the aforesaid plea. And the aforesaid Henry says, through his attorney, that those who now appear are not the same people against whom he brought his writ; but that those against whom he sues are called thus, namely: Richard Moles of Colby, Robert Magges of Colby, James Skene of Colby, William Chekke of Holland of Colby, Martin Jannes of Hanworth, William Kyng of Hanworth, John de Pallyng of Hanworth, John Pynchoun of Hanworth, Robert de Holond of Hanworth, John Warnere of Hanworth, John Bauchoun of Hanworth, Laurence Storke of Hanworth, Thomas de Duffous of Hanworth, Ralph Jannes of Hanworth, John Wykenesson of Hanworth, Thomas Dorer of Hanworth, William Andrewes of Hanworth, John Lubbok of Hanworth, William Herwell of Hanworth, John Weket of Hanworth and John Bull of Hanworth. And they do not appear. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them. And the sheriff returns that the aforesaid William Chekke is attached by Adam Cat and John Hert. Therefore they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain him by all his lands etc. And with the issues etc. And to have his body before the lord king at the octave of Michaelmas wherever etc. And concerning the aforesaid Richard Molles and others, the sheriff returns that they have nothing in his bailiwick etc. Therefore the sheriff is ordered to seize them if etc., and safely etc., so that he has their bodies before the lord king at the aforesaid term wherever etc. And on this the sheriff at the quinzaine of Trinity. Norfolk Henry Lumenour appeared on the fourth day through his attorney against Gilbert Gibbes of Southrepps, John Ker of Witchingham, Adam Nalles of Neatishead, Thomas Stracour of Foxley, Gilbert atte Spark of Foxley, Henry Newman of East Ruston, John Brond of Catton, William de Catton, John de Cateshende of Catton, John Bousyng of Trunch, John Lystere of Trunch, John Gymyngham of Bracondale, John Crek of Weston, Richard Egate of Weston, John Gange of Weston, Henry Bedewenere of Weston and John Larwode of Crostwight by Honing, in a plea of why they broke into the same Henry Lomynour's close and houses at Norwich with force and arms, and cut down his trees lately growing there, and seized and carried off those trees and other goods and chattels of his to the value of forty marks, as well as twenty marks of his money in coined money, and a certain box and two bags of his, with charters, deeds and other muniments contained in the same box and bags, and they threated the same Henry Lomynour with the destruction of his houses there until John Sporle, Henry Ged and John Geywod had made fine in forty pounds in the name of the aforesaid Henry Lomynour with the aforesaid Gilbert, Gilbert Gibbes of Southrepps, John Ker, Adam, Thomas, Gilbert, Henry Newman, John, William, John, John, John, John, John, Richard, John, Henry Bedwere and John Larworde in order to save his aforesaid houses, and other outrages etc. to the great harm etc., and against the present lord king's peace. And they do not appear. And as often before the sheriff was ordered to seize them. And the sheriff returns that the aforesaid Gilbert Gibbes and the others are not found, nor do they have anything etc. by which etc. Therefore the sheriff is ordered to have them put in exigent from county court to county court until etc. they are outlawed if [they do] not etc. And if etc., then he is to seize them and safely etc., so that he has their bodies before the lord king at the octave of St Hilary wherever etc. And on this the sheriff at the quinzaine of Trinity. On which day the sheriff did not send a writ. Therefore the sheriff is ordered to have them put in exigent again from county court to county court until etc. they are outlawed if not etc. And if etc., then he is to seize them [and] safely etc., and to have their bodies before the lord king on the morrow of St Martin wherever etc. A day is given both to the aforesaid Henry Lomynour, the complainant, through his aforesaid attorney, and to John Bald of Neatishead, webster, John atte Moor of East Ruston, Thomas Skervyng of East Ruston, William Gentilhomme of Crostwight by Honing, and John Ked of Crostwight by Honing, in the aforesaid plea, before the lord king at the aforesaid term wherever etc., at the request of the parties without essoin etc.
