| Text (English translation) | Cambridgeshire Roger de Harleston appeared on the fourth day through Robert Essex, his attorney, against John Legg, William [Vicary] of Linton, John Skynner of Linton, Robert Bisshop of Linton, John Martyn, William Sacche of Linton, Richard Hamound of Linton, William Shraggere of Linton, John Peper of Linton, Hugh Warbour of Haverhill, John Walyngforthe of Weston Colville, William Smyth of Bradley, Peter Whelwright of Southley, John Hikkesson of Thurlow, John Bouroun of Thurlow, John Webbe of Thurlow, John Cattesson of West Wickham, John Underwode of West Wickham, Simon Basse of West Wickham, Philip bailiff of William de Toppesfeld of West Wickham, John Burwell of West Wickham, Adam Davy of Willingham near Weston Colville, Robert Whitside of Willingham near Weston Colville and Robert Outlawe of Willingham near Weston Colville, in a plea of why with force and arms they broke the same Roger's closes and houses at Evale and Wimbish and seized and carried off his goods and chattels found there to the value of forty pounds, and other outrages etc. And they did not appear. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them etc. And the sheriff now sends word that each of the aforesaid John Legge and William Vicary is attached by Robert Vicary and William Legge. Therefore they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain them by all their lands etc. And that of the issues etc. And to have their bodies here three weeks after Easter day by the justices. And concerning the aforesaid John Skynner and all the others, the sheriff sends word that they have nothing etc. Therefore the sheriff is ordered to seize them if etc. so that he has their bodies here at the aforesaid term etc. |
