Text (English translation)Essex. Joan, Princess of Wales by John de Bretton her attorney, plaintiff, appears against Richard Morkyn of Paslow Hall [High Ongar], Henry Fraunceys of Navestock, John in the Sacche of Navestock, John Danwe of Navestock, John Chapman, Edmund Redyng of Epping, driver, and Richard Couherd de North Weald, defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close and houses of the said Princess at North Weald Bassett and took and carried away goods and chattels found there worth £200 and burnt charters, deeds, rolls and rentals and other of her muniments found there and they committed other enormities to the great damage of the said Princess and against the peace. And they do not come. And the sheriff had been ordered several times to catch them. And the sheriff now reports that they cannot be found etc. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered several times to arrest them etc. ... So that he has their bodies in court in the octave of St Trinity ... Essex. Joan, Princess of Wales by her aforesaid attorney appears against Laurence Frensshman, Thomas Millyng of Romford, John Prest of Romford, John Webbe of Romford, John Taillour of Havering-atte-Bower, John Blake of Dagenham, junior, Henry Taillour of Chelmsford, John Pykard of Chipping Ongar, Willelmum Rendekyn of Chipping Ongar, skinner, Nicholas Wright of Stondon Massey, John Carpenter of Navestock, William Morle, John Pegeon, cowherd, John Daubeneye, fletcher, and John Haster, defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close of the said Princess at North Weald Bassett and took and carried away goods and chattels found there worth £100 and burnt rolls, rentals, deeds, and other of her muniments found there and they committed other enormities to the great damage of the said Princess and against the peace.
