Text (English translation)Middlesex: William Blount of London was attached to answer to William atte Wyke concerning a plea whereby, by force and arms, he broke into the house of the same William atte Wyke at the parish of St Mary Matfelon without Aldgate, London, and took and carried away his goods and chattels to the value of £40 found there, and inflicted other outrages on him, to the serious damage of the same William atte Wyke, and against the peace of the king. And whereupon the same William atte Wyke by John Seymour, his attorney, complains that the aforesaid William Blount, on Thursday on the feast of Corpus Christi in the fourth year of the reign of the now lord king, by force and arms, namely with swords, staffs and knives, broke into the house of the same William atte Wyke at the parish of St Mary Matfelon without Aldgate, London, and took and carried away his goods and chattels, viz linen and woolen cloths, brass and wooden vessels, bedding, napkins, towels, ... gold and silver spoons and other household utensils to the value, etc, found there, and [inflicted] other outrages, etc, to the serious damage, etc, and against the peace, etc. Whereupon he says that he has suffered loss and has damage to the value of £60. And thereupon he produces suit, etc. And the aforesaid William Blount in his own proper person comes and defends the force and injury, when, etc. And upon this a day is given to the aforesaid parties here in the octave of St Michael in the state, in which it now is, saving to the parties, etc. At which day the aforesaid William atte Wyke came by his aforesaid attorney and appeared on the fourth day against the aforesaid William Blount concerning the aforesaid plea. And he has not come. And he had a day thereupon here at this day, just as appears above. Therefore the sheriff is ordered that he distrains him by all lands, etc, and from the issues, etc. And that he is to have his body here in the octave of St Hilary by the justices, etc. At which day the sheriff did not send the writ. Therefore just as before, he is to be distrained so that he is here in the octave of Holy Trinity, etc.
