Text (English translation)Foreign receipts include 2 old wagons, 6 horses with all equipment, 2 old long cart covers, 16 packhorses, trotters and carthorses received from the executors of Simon, Archbishop of Canterbury which belonged to the said Archbishop and are in the the office of the Marshalsea, delivered to the use of the king without cost. 7 coursers, trotters and palfreys and 1 wagon without equipment from goods and chattels that belonged to Robert Hales Prior of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem in England, delivered to the king's household without cost. 6 trotters and palfreys received from the goods and chattels that belonged to Richard Lyons delivered to the king's household for the use of the king without cost. 3 grey horses received from William Joce from the goods and chattels that belonged to John Dene of Hemel Hempstead who was hanged, delivered to the [king's] household for the wagons of Richard Norff' and John Goldyng without cost. 1 bay horse received from the said William [Joce] from goods and chattels of William Bysouth of Ruislip who was hanged, delivered to the household for the wagon of Richard Mareschall. 13s 6d for 7 wooden carts and 100 apples [cosard'] received from Walter atte Mulle, servant of the King's hall and chamber, from the forfeited goods and chattels which belonged to Richard Baude of Chelmsford, so valued and consumed in the household. 18s 9d for 303 quarts of apples [cosard'] received from the same Walter [atte Mulle] from the forfeited goods and chattels of William Gryndecobbe of St Albans, so valued and consumed in the household.
General InformationT. F. Tout, Chapters in Medieval Administrative History, vol. 4 (Manchester, 1928), pp. 211-212 refers to 'the modest store of flour belonging to the rebel miller William Grindcob of St Albans, forfeited for his treason and consumed in the household' but does not give a precise reference to the account.
