Text (English translation)And they [the jurors] say that John Filloll, miller, who held of the lady one cottage with appurtenances containing 2 acres of land by service of 2d per year, was indicted for felonious treason against the lord king, and on that account was taken and sentenced to death at and received his sentence before the lord king at Chelmsford, and was there drawn and hanged, and thus received his death. And they say that this John Filloll had as chattels 1 acre of land sown with oats (not yet valued), and also one old cow, two piglets and various utensils, to the value of 10s in all, which remain in the said tenement. Therefore, it is ordered to seize into the hand of the lady both that tenement and those chattels, and to retain them to the lady's use as forfeited chattels, etc. And to answer for their profit to the lady, etc. They also say that John Geffrey, a hereditary bondman from Badmondisfield [Suffolk], who was the bailiff of the lady in that manor, held of the lady in common with Margeria, his wife, one messuage and [blank] of bondland with its appurtenances, called Michelis, in East Hanningfield, was indicted for felonious treason against the king, and on that account was taken and sentenced to death, namely at Chelmsford before the lord king, and was there drawn and hanged, and thus received his death by the aforesaid sentence. And they say that this John had as chattels in the aforesaid tenement called Michels 2 day-works [measure of land] of wheat and one day-work of oats, not valued. And also, he had timber for timber for (making) a new house to the value of 8 marks. And they say further that the said John had nothing of his own here in this manor except what always was [the lady] and should be restored to the lady in this manor; therefore, it is ordered to seize, etc., except that, etc. until, etc. Also they say that John Sandhell of Sandon at the time of the common rumour, on his own took possession of four acres of free land, by charter of William Clovyle, in West Hanningfield, and half an acre of meadow, bondland of this manor, which John Wyse held of the lady by the rod at will, etc. namely as in right of his wife Agnes atte Hyd; he received no profit from these lands, but as he simply took possession so he simply gave it up of his own free will without any coercion, etc., Whereon let it be remembered to consult, etc.
