Roger Turnour of Saint Albans, John atte Ree, Peter Fullere, John Parkere, John, son of Roger Tylere, Robert Hunte, carpenter, John Longe, carpenter, William Cukkow, William Trushare, Geoffrey Hunte junior, William Astrelle of Hemel Hempstead, John Pays, John Newbakere, Geoffrey Richardseruant, locksmith, John Piers, John Dernewelle junior, William atte Chapelle, William Haddele, Geoffrey Roke and Andrew Ramrigge were attached to answer Robert del Chambre of Saint Albans on a plea that they, together with John Wymond, John Britiere, John Red of Reed, Henry Clerk of Codicote, John Laurence of King's Walden, Stephen Trewebode, Robert Hunte, John Ramrigge, Henry Parchymenier of Berkhamsted, Robert Hoburn, Robert Juere, John Park, John de Bury, William atte Hulle, Robert Chaloner, Willam Bacok, Henry Alstone, William Alstone, Henry Cook, Edward Cook of Berkhamsted, John Masone, innkeeper, John Alstone, John Freberne of Sandon, Adam Balom, Hugh Fullere of Watford and John Stranlee, with force and arms, broke the close and houses of the said Robert del Chambre at the town of Saint Albans, and took and carried away his goods and chattels found there to the value of 40m, and inflicted other enormities on him, to the grave damage of the said Robert del Chambre and against the King's peace. And whence the same Robert del Chambre complains, through John More, his attorney, that the aforesaid Roger Turnour, John atte Ree, Peter Fullere, John Parkere, John, son of Roger, Robert Hunte, John Longe, William Cukkow, William Trushare, Geoffrey Hunte, William Astrelle, John Pays, John Newbakere, Geoffrey, John Piers, John Dernewelle, William atte Chapelle, William Haddele, Geoffrey Roke and Andrew Ramrigge, together with etc, on Saturday 15 June 1381, with force and arms, namely swords, bows and arrows, broke the close and houses of the said Robert del Chambre at the town of Saint Albans, and took and carried away his goods and chattels found there, namely wheat, malt, barley, beans, peas and oats, linen and woollen cloth, bronze and wooden vessels, and other necessaries of the home, to the value etc, and other enormities etc and against the peace, whence he says that he suffered damages to the value of 100m. And thereof he produces suit. And the aforesaid Roger Turnour and all the others appeared through Richard de Carltone, their attorney, and say that they are not guilty of the aforesaid trespass and place themselves on the country. And the aforesaid Robert del Chambre likewise. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to summon twelve jurors here at the quindene of Michaelmas 1383. The same Robert de Chambre appeared through his aforesaid attorney against the aforesaid John Wymond, John Britiere, John Red, Henry Clerk, John Laurence, Stephen Trewebod, Robert Hunte, John Ramrigge, Henry Parchymenier, Robert Hoburn, Robert Juere, John Park, John de Bury, William atte Hulle, Robert Chaloner, William Bacok, Henry Alstone, William Alstone, Henry Cook, Edward Cook, John Masone, John Astone, John Freberne, Adam Balom, Hugh Fullere and Robert Stranlee on the aforesaid plea. And they did not come. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them etc. And the sheriff reports that the aforesaid John Ramrigge, Henry Cook and Edward Cook are attached by John Cut and Edward Rust. Therefore, they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain them by all lands and revenues and produce them here at the quindene of Michaelmas 1383. And regarding the aforesaid John Wymond, John Britiere and all the others, the sheriff reports that they have nothing etc. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to arrest them and produce them here at the aforesaid term etc.
