Text (English translation)Middlesex. Master John de Appelby, deacon of the church of Saint Paul of London, appeared through his attorney against John Carter junior, John Palfreyman junior, John Martyn, William Greene, Alan Pygot, John Dentone, John Hamptone, John Watkyn, George Wygot, Robert Scot and John Rade on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close and houses of the said deacon at Sutton, and burnt a certain chest of his found there with the charters, writings and other muniments contained in the same chest, and also took and carried away his goods and chattels found there to the value of £40, and other enormities etc to the grave damage etc and against the King's Peace etc. And they did not come. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them. And the sheriff reports that they have nothing.
