Et eciam dicunt quod predictus Willelmus Gore cum predictis insurrectoribus vi armata equitavit in dies in partibus predictis informando quam plures de nova insurreccione in comitatu Nortfolchie et excitando populum ad insurreccionem predicta faciendam. Et super hoc die et anno supradictis proditorie vi et armis cepit Thome atte Boure sub quodam Bosco vocato Bourewode et ipsum in tantum cominatus fuit de vita et membris suis nisi sibi concentiret ad diversa mala facienda in forma predicta quod vix de potentia sua de vita evasit et ibidem de eodem Thoma i equum precii i marce et i tablard precii dimidia marce proditorie et felonice cepit. Text (English translation)Cambridge. Inquisition before Roger de Scales and his fellow justices of the lord king assigned to hear and to determine divers felonies and trespasses the county of Cambridgeshire held there on the 4 March 1381 upon the oath of Jacob Sodelomb, Thomas Tryppelowe, Nicholas Mabely, John Dany, John Vycory, Roger Lawe, Hugo Warde, John Boydon, Roger Clerk, Robert Bunte, John atte Ook and John Taillour who say that John Deye of Willingham, principal insurgent in the county of Cambridgeshire, during the rumour on Monday after Corpus Christi 4 Richard II (17 June 1381) feloniously and treasonously killed Edmund Walsyngham at Ely. And upon this the sheriff has been ordered to arrest him etc. Cambridge. Inquisition before Roger de Scales and his fellow justices of the lord king assigned to hear and to determine divers felonies and trespasses the county of Cambridgeshire held there on the 9 December 1382 upon the oath of William Kyrkeby, Thomas Swaffham, John Shymplyng, Thomas Dilly, John Skreych, Walter Colman, John Rande, Simon Andrew, Richard Smyth of Wratting, Walter Courthose, William Chapman of Abington and John Baille of Wratting who say that [paraphrase] on 14 September 1381 William Gore, tailor feloniously stole from John Tommesson in East Wratting [Gt Wratting, Suffolk] cloths, two shoe soles and a battleaxe. On 12 December 1381 he entered the rectory of West Wratting at night and stole a saddle and bridles, a sword and a bow from the bailiff William Passelewe. On 31 January 1382 at night he took Basilia, the daughter of William Kebbel at West Wratting, with a knife drawn and stole 5 shilling from her. On 29 October 1381 he entered the rectory of West Wratting and stole a new sack containing 2 bushel of corn belonging to William Passelewe. On 15 September 1382 he stole from John Walter of West Wratting 2 horses. They also say that the aforesaid William Gore long before the insurrection lived of the art of tailor and from the insurrection until the 5 October 1382, the day he was captured, did no longer want to apply his trade but ride through the country in parts of Royston, Buntingford, Clavering, Walden and once at ''Bruer'(?) for two weeks and more and when he came back to West Wratting and boasted that he had new fellows and that he was their leader. And he with them he threatened the lives of John Passelewe, Adam Bakere, Thomas atte Boure, Thomas Leverer and other neighbours if they did not want to do what he and his fellows imposed on them ... and that by day and night he wandered about in West Wratting, Wickham and Weston with a strung bow and arrow in it, a sword, a shield and a dagger pleding(?) his neighbour and others so that the aforesaid neighbours, jurors and others pleaded that the sheriff might not burden them with mainprize. They also say that the aforesaid William Gore treasonously arose anew in Wickham Street and West Wratting gathering new unknow associates to rise up against his allegiance namely on 1 September 1382. And also they say that the aforesaid William Gore together with the aforesaid insurgents rode armed from day to day in the aforesaid parts and told many people about the new insurrection in the county of Norfolk and urging the people rise up in the aforesaid insurrection. And on this aforesaid day and year (1 September 1382?) he treasonously seized with force and arms Thomas atte Boure towards a certain wood called Bourewode and threatened him greatly to life and limbs if he does not agree to do divers evil things in the aforesaid form so that he hardly got away with his life; and there he [William] treasonously and feloniously too k from the same Thomas 1 horse, worth 1 mark, and 1 writing tablet(?) worth half a mark. And furthermore they say that the aforesaid William was at the time of his capture a principal and common insurgent and also a notorious thief. And upon this the sheriff has been ordered to arrest him.
