Text (English translation)The collectors of the subsidy granted to the King at his last Parliament at Northampton request that whereas they have collected part of the first and second payments, and because the commons of their diocese who are in arrears are unwilling to pay the residue the collectors have pursued them by censure of holy church so that they have now been excommunicated for over half a year, that the King and Parliament account with them for what they have received and acquit them of the rest.
General Information[c. 1381] Dated on the guard to c. 1381 since it refers to the Parliament held at Northampton, and with reference to CCR 1381-5, p. 17, a 1381 order to discharge collectors of Essex of the subsidy last granted to the King of all sums falling upon those who fled because of insurrection or are dead, in accordance with their petition.
