Text (English translation)The burgesses of Scarborough request that Lovel, Galon, Hunter, Broun, Marche, Symson and Cant be punished for their involvement in the late insurrection in Scarborough, but that all those falsely indicted before the earl of Northumberland be pardoned.
General Information[c. 1381-c. 1382] This petition dates from the immediate aftermath of the rising of 1381 in Scarborough, and is associated on the guard note with the instructions and commissions of 1382 found in CCR 138-15, p. 209 and CPR 1381-5, p. 249.
