Text (English translation)For John Ravenser, keeper of the hanaper. The King to his treasurer and barons of the exchequer greetings. Since, on 20 May [22 May?] 5 Rich. II [1382], by our special grace and for the good service that our beloved servant William Wyghtman, sealer of writs of our chancery, devoted recently for us in the town of Huntingdon, to repel, in the same place, certain commons of our kingdom who rose up against our peace, we granted him 6d. per day for life, taken from the revenues of the hanaper of our chancery by the hand of the keeper of the same for the time being etc...You we command that you are able to agree the same William has, in this, been reasonably paid by virtue of our aforesaid command, or paid at the same exchequer, receiving from the aforesaid letters of acquittance etc. Witnessed by myself at Westminster 12 November 8 Rich. II [1384].
