Text (English translation)Essex. Joan, who was the wife of Humphrey de Bohun lately earl of Hereford, plaintiff, by Thomas May her attorney, appears against John Child, John Godwen, John Thurbarn. John Sampson atte Claye, Alexander Sathe, Richard Goself, William Thurbarn, John Asselyn, John Capel, Richard Ballard, Richard Kent, Henry Strempyn, John Billeston. John Billem, Thomas Sampson senior, Thomas Sampson junior, Simon Wereward, John Sephe senior, Thomas Jeux, Henry Bedeford, John Kent and William Pettyng defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close of the said Joan at Little Wakering and burnt charters, deeds and other muniments they found there in two bags. And other enormities etc. and against the peace etc. They [the defendants] do not come. As before the sheriff is ordered to arrest them etc. And the sheriff now sends words that they cannot be found. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered, as before, to arrest them etc. ... And to have their bodies to be in court here in the quindene of Hilary ...
