Text (English translation)For the keeper of the hanaper The King to his treasurer and barons of the exchequer greetings. Since, on 22 May 5 Rich. II [1382], through our letters patent of our special grace, and for the good service that our beloved servant William Wyghtman, sealer of writs of our chancery, devoted, recently for us in the town of Huntingdon, to repel in the same place certain commons of our kingdom who rose up against our peace, we granted him 6d. per day for life, taken ‒ for the time being ‒ from the revenues of the hanaper of our chancery; we command that you are assured that the keeper reasonably paid the aforesaid William from the aforesaid 22 May etc., receiving from the aforesaid custody of his letters of acquittance etc. Witnessed by myself at Westminster 10 January, 7 Rich. II [1384].
