Text (English translation)For Robert Basset, our escheator in Hertfordshire. The King to his treasurer and barons of the exchequer greetings. Lately through our writ we ordered Robert Basset, our escheator in Hertfordshire, that he deliver to our beloved and faithful Walter atte Lee 20l. from the revenues of his bailiwick in aid of his expenses incurred dealing with the rebels in said county. We command that this order of ours, having been seen etc., said escheator pay the same Walter etc. Witnessed by myself at Westminster 25 April, 5 Rich. II [1382].
