| Text (English translation) | For Robert Goldynton. The King to his treasurer and barons of the exchequer greetings. Since recently, given to understand that, John Somonur, Robert Piers, William Chamberleyn, John Dawe and Robert Vyne, of Manytre [Manningtree, Essex], whence charged and indicted for certain firm reasons, suddenly withdrew themselves, we ordered Robert Goldyngton, then our escheator in the county of Essex, that all goods and chattels of John, Robert, William, John and Robert themselves, be arrested, wherever and in whosoever's hands they might be found in his bailiwick, and be seized into our hand etc., you we command that you summon the aforesaid John, Robert, William, John and Robert before yourselves, if, through an examination of them, or else by a confession to yourselves, it is possible to establish their aforesaid goods and chattels to have remained in their own hands, as a result of the permission of the aforesaid late escheator, that ‒ having then called the late escheator himself to the aforesaid exchequer regarding those goods, discharging due process against the same John, Robert, William, John and Robert for the aforesaid goods and chattels ‒ you should cause to be done, just as by rights, and according to the law and custom of our kingdom of England.
