Text (English translation)Essex. Richard Stacy senior by Richard Waltham his attorney, plaintiff, appears against John Parker, tailor, William Teylere, John Coubelle of Maldon, Thomas Lovelith of Langford, Thomas Herde of Boreham, Thomas the Prior's [Priory of Little Leighs] palfreyman [horse groom], Thomas Ropere, John Gymes, John Bryd of Chelmsford, chandler, Thomas Pese, John Fullere of Sandon, Thomas Pulter of Stock, John Pecche of Tillingham, John Mantell of Bradwell on Sea, Thomas Coleman of Boreham, John Gray of Herefordstock [= Stock], John Strangere and John Saleman of Hanningfield, defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they burnt the charters, deeds and other muniments found at Broomfield of the said Richard and took and carried away his goods and chattels found there worth £20. And other enormities etc. And against the peace etc. And they [the defendants] do not come. Sheriff had been ordered to attach them. And sheriff returns that they have nothing [by which they can be distrained] etc. Sheriff ordered to arrest them to appear in the quindene of Michaelmas.
