The prior of Bury St Edmunds, plaintiff, by Thomas Ewell his attorney, appears against [blank] Marchal, Stephen Couper, Thomas Fleccher, William Chalouner, William Webbe, John Daubeney junior, John Hastere, John Lewe, John Baker, Robert Baker, John son of Thomas Taillour, John Bowier, Simon Fuller, Thomas Haver, John Roger, John Smyth, Walter Chapman, Thomas Croucheman, John Phippe, Richard Hirde, Richard Sadeler, John Chapman, John Deye, John Crypoun, Thomas son of John Stiphene, John Motegon atte Ponde, Richard Corbel, Andrew Chapman, Walter Mounford, William son of William Lord, John Lok, Robert Lok, William Blank, Richard Hore, Raymond Porter, Ralph Biterden, William Lok, Thomas Howe, Peter Stonherd and John Sweyn, defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close and the houses of the said prior at Harlow and burnt the court rolls of his manor in the said location and other written notes relating to the legal rights of this manor found there. And [they committed] other enormities etc. against the peace etc. They do not come. And the sheriff is ordered to attach them. And the sheriff now reports that they have nothing [by which they can be distrained] etc. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to arrest them etc. ... So that he has their bodies at this court in the quindene of Michaelmas. |
