Thus it is ordered to the sheriff of Cambridge that writs of exigent be issued against them from county to county and they are to be outlawed unless they can be seized. And they should appear in court before the aforesaid assigned at Cambridge on Wednesday 9th January 1382 to respond to the king on the charges. And the sheriff has a writ of exigent at this time. And be it known that it was advanced above by the writ of exigent aforesaid, namely with the response of the sheriff against them recorded below in this roll. And otherwise it is ordered to the sheriff as in roll 3 that he should arrest Edmund Hornene of Shudy Camps, John Senger of Hinxton, John Peper of Linton, Andrew Mower of Linton, John Whelwryth of Bartlow and Jacob Hog of Ickleton, and that they should appear before the justices at Cambridge on this day to respond separately to the various felonies presented against them in the aforesaid roll. On which day the sheriff returns that the aforesaid Edmund and all others indicted above were not found in his jurisdiction after their recovery was ordered. Therefore in the inquiry into and seizing of their lands, tenements, goods and chattels as ordered above, it is returned that Ralph atte Wyk, king's escheator, before receiving the said order, had seized them as above, and this was counter-rolled by Simon de Burgh by the king's writ, as necessary sent to him just as at present he is able to ascertain. Thus it is ordered to the sheriff of Cambridge that writs of exigent be issued against them from county to county and they are to be outlawed unless they can be seized. And that they should appear before the justices on Wednesday 9th January 1382 to respond to the sheriff on the aforesaid writ of exigent, as recorded below in this roll. Chesterton. Inquisition held at Chesterton on Tuesday 16th July 1381. The jury amongst other things say that Thomas Thrippelowe on Sunday 16th June 1381, at the time of the rumour and disturbance, took two cows belonging to Roger Harlaston at Cottenham, the value of which is unknown. And the same Thomas has been arrested by the sheriff and remains in his custody. Also they say that Richard Martyn on the same day at Cottenham with others sold various goods and chattels belonging to the said Roger, namely oxen, sheep, pigs, wool, lead and wood from the demolished houses of various men, the value of which is unknown. And they say that John Deye of Willingham on the same day acquired 6 oxen, 1 horse, and 1 bull from Richard Martyn. And the same Richard Martyne and John Deye for this and other felonies are already put in exigent as appears on Roll 5. Also they say that John Beverech and John Stryk, on Sunday 9th June 1381 at the time of the disturbance and rumour, sold a horse, two sheep and wool belonging to Roger Harlaston at Cottenham, the value of which things is unknown. On which day the sheriff returns that the aforesaid John and John were not found in his jurisdiction after their recovery was ordered. Therefore it was ordered as before to the sheriff to arrest them, and that they should appear before the justices at Cambridge on Saturday 24th August 1381 to answer to the king as above. And that in the meantime the sheriff should inquire diligently into the lands, tenements, goods and chattels that those indicted aforesaid hold jointly or severally and seize them into the king's hand. And this was plainly certified on the aforesaid day. On which Saturday the aforesaid sheriff that the aforesaid John and John were not found in his jurisdiction after their recovery was ordered. And nothing further has been done on this at the time of the writ. And the same John and John are lawfully summoned and do not appear. Thus the sheriff of Cambridge is ordered to issue writs of exigent against them from county to county, and they are to be outlawed unless they can be seized. And that they should appear before the justices at Cambridge on Wednesday 9th January 1382 to respond to the king separately on the charges. And the sheriff has a writ of exigent. And afterwards, namely on December 25th 1381, following, John Stryk appeared before the aforesaid justices to stand lawfully. And bail is sent for throughout the aforesaid time of outlawry, by pledge of Pagan Typtot, Thomas Swafham, John Roberd and Henry Smyth for his appearance in court, namely body for body [...]. And he has a writ of supersedeas. And the aforesaid John Beverech similarly appeared and showed a charter of pardon from the King, and similarly a writ de non molestando. Therefore no further action has been taken against him. The sheriff was ordered to outlaw John Bokeden and all others above-named at the top of the roll, and that they should appear before the aforesaid justices at the day and place specified above to respond separately to the king on the charges. On which Wednesday [25th December 1381] the sheriff ordered that at the session held at Cambridge on Thursday 2nd January 1382 that John Bokeden, William Sharp, Thomas Roo, Robert Gurneye, Edmund Hornene, Andreas Mowere, John Songger, John Whelwryght, John Maddy, John Skynnere, John, blacksmith of the lord of Scales were summoned five times, and thus at four county courts held there next preceding. And they did not appear, and because they did not appear at any of the aforesaid county courts to which they were summoned. Therefore by order of the crown and the judgement of the aforesaid county courts they are outlawed. And the escheator is ordered to diligently inquire into their possessions, and make execution on behalf of the king. And Jacob Hogg brought himself out of the aforesaid county by writ of supersedeas against him, and gave himself up to John Broune, one of the aforesaid justices, under whose custody he remains.
