Text (English translation)Essex. John Bourchier, knight, by John Sumpter his attorney, plaintiff, appears against John Craygos of East Mersea, Richard de Coventre, John Elmsted junior, Ralph atte Wode of Bradewell on Sea, John Beek, shipman, and William Saryner in his plea that he together with Robert Slouthman of Woodham Walter, cleric, Hugo But of Maldon, John Brodyng of Maldon, Robert Flexere of Maldon, John Snape of Maldon, John Tynkere of Maldon and Thomas Pekok with force and arms broke the close and the houses of the said John Bourchier at Langford and burnt all his court rolls, rentals and deeds they found there and (committed) other enormities etc. And against the peace etc. And they did not come. And as before the sheriff was ordered to arrest them. And the sheriff now reports that they were not found et co. Therefore, just as ordered before the sheriff shall seize them et co. And excepting et co. Thus he should have them here within the week of St Trinity by the justices et co. At which day the sheriff did not send his writs. Therefore it is ordered as before that they should be in court on the day of Michaelis within 15 days. et co.
