Item presentant quod Henricus de Berton curreyour de Norwico similiter cum aliis venit die et anno predictis in Norwyco et felonice fregit domos predicti Henrici Lumnour in Norwyco et bona et catalla ipsius Henrici videlicet pannos lineos et laneos ad valenciam centum soldorum felonice et furtive cepit et asportavit necnon arbores pomarum pirarum vinarum et alios arbores in gardino dicti Henrici ibidem crescenta amputavit et succidit. Item presentant quod Adam Smyth de Wroxham et Henricus Staunford de Wroxham congregaverunt et levaverunt societatem contra coronam et dignitatem domini Regis die martis proxima post festum Sancti Botulphi anno predicto et ipsi cum societate predicta eodem die martis venerunt ad Prioratum de Carrowe infra libertatem Norwyci et intantum minaverunt Dominam Margaretam de Enges Priorissam predicte Prioratus de vita et membris nisi eis deliberaret cartas monumenta et rotulos de curiis suis et pro timore mortis predicta Priorissa eis fecit deliberacionem de carta monumentis et rotulis suis predictis que omnia et singular felonice ardere fecerunt in Norwyco. Item presentant quod Iohannes Creyk de Wymondham die lune in festo Sancto Botulphi abbatis anno predicto congregavit sibi et levavit societatem contra coronam et dignitatem domini Regis apud Corston et ibidem felonice fregit domos Iohannis de Freton archidiaconi Norffolchie et bona et catalla ipsius Iohannis in eisdem inventa videlicet pannos lineos et laneos et vasa enea et de peutre ad valenciam lx s. felonice et furtive cepit et asportavit. Item presentant quod Thomas Wylde Fullere de Norwyco cum aliis hominibus levatis et congregatis in societate contra coronam et dignitatem domini Regis die lune in festo Sancti Botulphi predicto venit ad domum Waltero de Bixton in Norwyco et quod predictus Thomas eidem Waltero debuit vii li. argenti pro firma terre sibi dimissa' intravit domum Walteri per societates suas predictas minavit de vita et membro nisi perdonaret sibi dictas vii li. et pro timore mortis sue et in salvacionem vite sue illas vii li. ei condonavit et plus cepit de ipso Waltero ut salvaret vitam suam vi s. viii d. per extortionem. Item presentant quod Iohannes Toke draper in tantum [...] per societates predictas die mercurii proxima post festum Sancti Botulphi anno predicto minavit Nicholum de Blakene [...] nisi haberet de ipso finem xl s. pro capite suo quos quidam xl s. predictem Iohannes cepit de predicto Nicholo ad salvandum vitam suam per extorsionem.
Text (English translation)Mancroft leet, Norwich The jurors present that Richard Bray of Framingham Earl and others came on Monday 17th June 1381 and feloniously broke into the houses of Henry Lumenour in Norwich and feloniously and furtively took a barrel of 'astero' worth 40 s. they found in the same [houses] and carried it away. Also they present that Henry de Berton of Norwich, currier , likewise came with others at the aforesaid day and year [17th June 1381] to Norwich and feloniously broke into the houses of the aforesaid Henry Lumnour in Norwich and feloniously and furtively took and carried away goods and chattels of the same Henry, namely woollen and linen cloths worth 100 s., and also he lopped off and cut down apple and pear trees, vines and other trees which were growing in the said Henry's garden. Also they present that Adam Smyth of Wroxham and Henry Staunford of Wroxham assembled and raised a society against the crown and the dignity of the lord king on Tuesday 18th June 1381 and they, with the aforesaid society, on the same Tuesday came to the Priory of Carrow within the liberty of Norwich and greatly threatened the life and limb of Lady Margaret de Engys, prioress of the aforesaid priory, if she did not release to them her charters, muniments and court rolls, and for fear of death the aforesaid prioress released to them the aforesaid charters, muniments and court rolls, which each and every single one was feloniously burned in Norwich. They also present that John Creyk of Wymondham on Monday 17th June 1381 allied himself and raised a society against the crown and the dignity of the lord king at Coston and there he feloniously broke into the houses of John de Freton, archdeacon of Norfolk, and feloniously and furtively took and carried away goods and chattels found in the same [houses] of the same John, namely woollen and linen cloths and brass and pewter pots worth 60 s. They also present that Thomas Wylde of Norwich, fuller, with other people who have risen and assembled in societies against the crown and the dignity of the lord king, came on Monday 17th June 1381 to the house of Walter de Bixton in Norwich and that the aforesaid Thomas, who owed the same Walter £7 in silver for the farming of land he has released, entered the house of Walter with the help of his aforesaid societies and threatened his life and limb if he did not remit the said £7, and for fear of his death and in saving his life he waived the £7, and on top of this he took from the same Walter in order to save his life 6 s 8 d by extorsion. They also present that John Toke , draper, with the help of the aforesaid societies, on Wednesday 19th June 1381 threatened Nicolas de Blakene in [...] if he did not have from him a fine of 40 s. for his head, the which 40 s. the aforesaid John took from the aforesaid Nicolas by extortion in return for sparing his life.
