Item dicunt quod Robertum Strongehobbe quondam serviens Iohannis filius Alexandri Fastolf fuit capitalis ductor populi contra pacem et in preiudicium corone domini Regis iniuste levati et idem Robertus simul cum aliis quampluribus malefactoribus ignotis vi et armis et modo guerrino venit apud Castre in Flege die martis proxima post festum Sancti Botulphi anno quarto supradicto et ibidem domos Iohannis filii Alexandri Fastolfe felonice fregit et prostravit necnon bona et catalla dicti Iohannes ad valenciam viginti librarum ibidem inventa felonice furatus fuit et asportavit. Item dicunt quod Henricus Roys de Dilham Adam Pultere alias vocatus Adam Martyn decollatus simul cum aliis malefactoribus ignotis die lune in festo Sancti Botulphi anno quarto apud Mushold iuxta Hospitale Sancte Marie Magdalene felonice interfecerunt et decollaverunt Robertum de Salle militem affirmantes' et dicunt quod se habere et habuisse regale preceptum in premissis Datum die loco et anno supradictis.
Text (English translation)West Flegg Inquisition held at Horning on Tuesday 9th July 1381 before William de Ufford, earl of Suffolk, and his associate king's justices etc. by John de Pykeryng, John Michel, Thomas Isbel, William Gunyld, Geoffrey de Pykeryng, John Dawes, John Cole, John Harald, John de Ryssengles, John de Holleslee, Thomas Jerveys and Robert Bataille who say upon their oath that Richard Philymond of Buxton, John Gentelombe, John Bettes of North Walsham were chief leaders of the people unlawfully rising up against the lord king's peace at Billockby and Caister in Flegg, namely on Tuesday 18th June 1381, and thus from village to village to the prejudice of the crown of the lord king and the disturbance of the peace against the proclamation and prohibition of the said lord king. Also they say that John atte Chambre of Potter Heigham on Monday 17th June 1381 at Norwich feloniously killed Reginald de Eccles. Also they say that Robert Strongehobbe formerly servant of John, son of Alexander Fastolf was a chief leader of the people unlawfully rising up against the peace and in prejudice of the crown, and the same Robert together with several other unknown wrongdoers with force and arms and in a warlike manner came to Caister in Flegg and there he feloniously broke into and pulled down the houses of John, son of Alexander Fastolf and also stole and carried away goods and chattels found there of the said John worth £20. Also they say that Henry Roys of Dilham and Adam Pulter otherwise named Adam Martyn, beheaded, together with other unknown wrongdoers on Monday 17th June 1381 at Mousehold [Heath] near the Hospital of St Mary Magdalen feloniously killed and beheaded Robert de Salle, knight, and they affirmatively say that they have and have had a royal warrant of permission. Given at the place and the year aforesaid.
