Item dicunt quod Iohannes Qwyntenoye de Heymford die lune proxima ante festum Nativitatis Sancti Iohannis Baptiste tempore levacionis anno regni Regis supradictum in civitate Norwyci et alibi minavit Iohannem atte Hil capitalis constabularius dicti hundredi de vita et corpore ita quod idem Iohannes disperabatur de vita sua et de eo quod idem Iohannes voluit ipsum arestare ad pacem dictus Iohannes Qwynteneye super dictum Iohannem atte Hil currit et voluit ipsum Iohannem vulnerare cum lanceam contra pacem et co.
Text (English translation)Hundred of Henstead Inquisition held at Norwich on Saturday 6th July 1381 by John Frethyngham, William Sire, John atte Hil, John Leest, Richard Berthram, William atte Hil, John Grym, John Brian junior, Geoffrey Mayhu, John Falke, John Horseyate and Jon Sendele, jurors, who say upon their oath that William, son of John de Belstede of Poringland and William Sleford and others unknown came on Thursday 20th June 1381 at the time of the rising with force and arms [and] in a warlike manner against the peace to the dwelling-house of Roger Nowelyn of Holverston in the same village and broke into the houses and they plundered and took away ten quarters of malt and other goods and chattels found there, namely ten quarters of malt, nine male and female piglets, 25 sheep, two cows and three calves and a brazen pot worth 100 s. Also they say that John Qwyntenoye of Hainford on Monday 17th June 1381 at the time of the rising at Norwich and elsewhere threatened John atte Hil, chief constable of the said hundred, of life and body so that the same John feared for his life and when the same John wanted to arrest him within the peace, the said John Qwyntenoye run towards the said John atte Hil and wanted to injure the same John with a lance against the peace etc.
