| Text (English translation) | Mutford - at Beccles The jurors present that John Wrau, lately parson of the church of Ringsfield, and Edmund Barbour of Beccles, came to the village of Beccles on Wednesday 19th June 1381 at the time of the rising in a warlike manner with many others unknown, and feloniously killed Geoffrey Southgate of Beccles in Beccles. Also they say that Robert Herde of Toft Monks at the time of the rising on Tuesday 18th June 1381 in a warlike manner feloniously killed John Raas of Blundeston at Lowestoft. Also they say that John Rydale of Covehithe, bargeman, came at the time of the rising in a warlike manner to the village of Uggeshall on Tuesday 18th June 1381 with many others unknown, and threw down and looted the house of Robert son of Gilbert, and feloniously plundered his mansion there. |
