Item dicunt quod Radulphus Hame de Buklesham capitalis congregator diversis hominibus tempore levacionis modo guerrini et contra dignitatem corone domini Regis felonice venit in villa de Melton predicto die dominica supradicto et ibidem domos Willelmi Fraunceys felonice fregerunt et delaceravit cum aliis ignotis et pannos lineos et laneos ac olleas eneas et alia bona et catalla ad valenciam xl s. de predicto Willelmo felonice depredavit et asportavit apud Melton. Item dicunt quod Iohannes Caperoun de Marlesford venit vi et armis tempore levacionis modo guerrini contra pacem et dignitatem corone Regis in villa de Marlesford die lune proxima post festum corporis Christi anno supradicto et ibidem Henricum de Desenyng imprisonavit quousque finem fecit cum prefato Iohannes Caperoun de xl d. pro deliberacione sua habenda pro timore mortis.
Text (English translation)Hundred of Loes Suffolk, Loes - the jurors present that Thomas Sampson, John de Batisford, parson of the church of Bucklesham and Richard Talmache of Bentley, congregators, supporters and conspirators of various men in the hundreds of Samford, Ipswich, Carlford, Wilford and Loes at the time of the rising, came to Melton in a warlike manner and against the dignity of the crown on Sunday 16th June 1381 and feloniously and fraudulently broke into and looted the close and houses of William Fraunceys at Melton, and plundered and carried away gold, silver, silver coin, spoons, maple bowls, belts, rings, pans, linen and woollen cloths, domestic utensils, namely pewter vessels, wash-basins, wool, malt, corn, animals of various types and other goods and chattels at Melton worth 100 marks. Also they say that William Bernard of Copdock on the aforesaid Sunday at the time of the rising in a warlike manner and against the dignity of the crown feloniously came with many others unknown to the village of Eyke and broke into and looted the close and houses of John Staverton, and similarly broke open various caskets belonging to the said John, and feloniously carried away charters, writings and other muniments, to the damage of the said John of 100 s. Also they say that Ralph Hame of Bucklesham was a chief congregator of various men at the time of the rising, and in a warlike manner and against the dignity of the crown feloniously came to the village of Melton on the aforesaid Sunday and feloniously broke into and looted the houses of William Fraunceys with others unknown, and feloniously plundered and carried away pans, linen, wool, brass pots and other goods and chattels of the said William at Melton worth 40 s. Also they say that John Caperoun of Marlesford came with force and arms at the time of the rising, in a warlike manner against the peace and dignity of the crown, to the village of Marlesford on Monday 17th June 1381, and imprisoned Henry de Desenyng until he made a fine to the aforesaid John Caperoun of 40 d. for his deliverance (and) for fear of his life.
