Walter FitzWalter by John Giffard his attorney, plaintiff, appears against John Beverle of Cheshunt, Walter Smyth of Waltham Holy Cross, John Baldewene, William atte Hell, Richard Bockyng, John Shepherd of Roydon, Richard Crucheman, John Grigge and John Cowyk of Sheering, defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the closes of the said Walter Fitzwalter at Roydon and Sheering and burnt rolls writings and other muniments found there and assaulted his men and servants and beat wounded and ill treated them so that the said Walter Fitzwalter lost the service of his men and servants for a great time. The defendants do not come. Sheriff ordered to attach them. And sheriff returns that they have nothing. Sheriff ordered to arrest them to appear in the quindene of Trinity [1382]. Essex. Alice de Nevill by John Giffard her attorney, plaintiff, appears against William Seman, Richard Parker of Wethersfield, William Shrag, John Symmes and John Giffray, defendants, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close and houses of the said Alice at Wethersfield and burnt charters writings and other muniments found there and took and carried away goods and chattels to the value of twenty pounds and assaulted her men and servants and beat wounded and ill treated them so that the said Alice lost the service of her men and servants for a great time. The defendants do not come. Sheriff ordered to attach them. And sheriff returns that they have nothing. Sheriff ordered to arrest them to appear in the quindene of Trinity [1382]. |
