Text (English translation)Middlesex. Jurors of divers hundreds present in the Michaelmas term 5 Richard II that John Payntour draper of London on 14 June 1381 with force and arms and with banner displayed entered the Abbey of St Mary Graces in Middlesex with other insurgents from the counties of Essex and Kent and compelled the Abbot and monks of the said Abey to seize a foreign man in the chamber of the Abbey. Payntour appears in Hilary term 5 Richard II and pleads not guilty. He is committed to the Marshalsea. Jurors come and say he is not guilty.
