Text (English translation)John, Duke of Lancaster, plaintiff, by Hugh Wombwell his attorney appears against John Erliche of Woolwich, William Bikenore of Mottingham, Simon Goderd of Eltham, Roger Fleming, poulterer, Peter Fleming, carter, John Dovere of Lewisham, William Pode junior, Roger Swyche, John Watford of Eltham, tailor, John Wareyn, Simon Wareyn, John Wayte of Eltham, Richard Auncel of East Greenwich, John Webbe of Eltham, smith, John Bocher of Eltham, Thomas Horne of Greenwich, John Blount of Eltham, carpenter, and John Aleyn of Bedfordshire, defendants, on a plea that they broke the close of the said Duke in the parish of St Mary le Strand wihout Temple Bar and burnt goods and chattels worth £10,000 together with charters, writings and other muniments in his houses there together with the buildings themselves, and took and carried away goods and chattels worth £10,000 found there. The Sheriff had been ordered to attach the defendants but returned they had nothing. Ordered to arrest them to appear Hilary 1384.
