Earl of Arundel by John de Bretton his attorney appears against William Grete of Lewes, William Wodelond of Clyva iuxta Lewes, Walter Wilmondeshurst, John Wilmondeshurst, Simon Wilmondeshurst, Henry atte Grove, Thomas Willot, William Welles of Ukkefeld, John Berlegh, Walter Froyle, Richard Breton, John Cartere of Ukkefeld, William atte Nelond, William atte Combe, Thomas de Grenstede, John Goldying carpenter, Robert Hemstede, William Freke junior, William Bedemere, Simon Ponte, Walter Mist, John Hokeman of Maghfeld, William Umfrey of Maghfeld, Richard Yerdhurst, Richard Lambyn, Roger Porter and John Clerk of Fernthe, on a plea that together with John Daly of Withihamme, Gilbert Gilderugge, William Bentlegh, John Chaury, Walter Marthe, Robert Colyore of Fremfeld and Jacob Monsehale, with force and arms they broke the castle, close and houses of the said Earl at Lewes, and broke into 10 tuns of wine worth £100 and drank it, and took and carried away goods and chattels worth 40 marks, and took and burnt rolls, rentals, memoranda and other muniments. Sheriff had been ordered as before to arrest them, returns they are not found, and ordered as many times before to arrest them to be in CP in octave of Trinity.
