Short DescriptionJacob Payn and Jacob Sodelcomb seize 20lb of blue wool
DetailsThey [the jurors] say that Jacob Payn and Jacob Sodelcomb on Sunday 9th June 1381 at the time of the rumour at Cottenham seized 20 lb. blue wool of low quality, the value of which is unknown. And the sheriff is ordered to arrest them, and they should appear before the justices at Cambridge on Saturday [3rd August 1381] to answer to the king separately on the charges. On which day the aforesaid Jacob and Jacob delivered themselves up to the justices. And on this William Wykham, William Kynge, John Rede and Henry Barnard bailed them, ready to appear in court from day to day until a legitimate means has been decided upon, body for body under penalty of £100 paid to the king under the aforesaid condition.
