Short DescriptionJohn Cartere threatens Robert Benet vicar of Middleton
DetailsAnd that John son of Eustace Cartere of Middleton came to Middleton with force and arms on Friday 21st June 1381 at the time of the rumour and threatened Robert Benet, vicar of the church of Middleton that they would lead 500 wrongdoers to his messuage to despoil and plunder his goods and chattels which could be found in the same messuage, so that the said Robert for fear of having his goods and chattels despoiled made a fine with the said John of 5 and a half marks, in prejudice of the king's laws, the which 5 and a half marks the said John took and carried away.
