Item dicunt quod Stephanus de Langham fecit quondam finem Iohanni Lothale et Simoni Bune et Iohanni Bony de x s. eo quod non desiradatus fuisset contra voluntatem dicti Stephani die et anno supradicto apud Kymberle. Item dicunt quod Iohannes Spicer de Wymondham cum multis aliis ignotis perturbatores domini Regis pacis tempore levacionis venerunt apud Herlynge ad domum Iohannis de Herling die dominica proxima ante festum Nativitatis Sancti Iohannis Baptiste' anno regni Regis Ricardi secundi quarto et bona et catalla dicti Iohannis videlicet lanam et sucre ad valenciam xl s. ibidem inventa cepit et asportavit. Item dictus Iohannes Spicer dictis die et anno apud Caston cum multis aliis ignotis perturbatores domini Regis venerunt ad domum Ade Galyon apud Caston et unum carectam ferrata precii xv s. ceperunt et abduxerunt contra pacem.
Text (English translation)Wymondham Inquisition held at Norwich on Saturday 6th July 1381 before Robert [recte: William] de Ufford and his associate justices of the lord king's peace etc. by Walter Fouler, William Spicer, John Sherer, John Man, William Grout, Robin Blythe, William de Stowe, Reginald Knyth, Robert Deye, William Snotel, William Hardened, William Fidimond, William Pygg, jurors, who say upon their oath that Thomas Drew of Shelfanger and William Stork of the same on Sunday 23rd June 1381 came from the village of Shelfhanger to Wymondham and said if the town of Wymondham will not agree with them, and to be of their company and to stand alongside them, they will lead 1000 men to Wymondham to rise in rebellion against the peace and the dignity of his crown. Also, William Hirving of Aslacton was a chief leader and disturber of the king's peace and his crown who led 200 men in his society to the dwelling house of Stephen de Langham, to the terror of the people and the said Stephen, namely on Monday 17th June 1381. Also, on the same day the said William feloniously despoiled and robbed William Eyr of Saham Toney of goods and chattels at Saham Toney, namely oxen and sheep at the time of the rising. Also they say that Stephen de Langham made a certain fine with John Lothale and Simon Bune and John Bony of 20 s., and this against the will of the said Stephen who did not desire this, on the aforesaid day and year at Kimberley. Also they say that John Spicer of Wymondham with many other unknown disturbers of the king's peace at the time of the rising came to [East] Harling to the house of John de Herling on Sunday 23rd June 1381 and took and carried away goods and chattels he found there of the said John, namely wool and sugar of the value of 40 s. Also they say that John Spicer on the said day and year at Caston with many other unknown disturbers of the king's peace came to the house of Adam Galyon at Caston and took and carried away against the peace an iron-shod cart worth 15 s.
