Text (English translation)The jurors present that Richard ..., minister, William Pecche, clerk, and Simon Tylere, living in the parish of Giles Cripplegate, London, were insurrectors, together with the other felons and traitors of the lord king, and they made an insurrection against the lord king and his loyal subjects on Friday next after the feast of Corpus Christi in the fourth year of the reign of King Richard II after the conquest, and they feloniously and traitorously burnt down the house of John Boterwyk at Knightsbridge, Ebury and Tothill in the county of Middlesex. Item, they present that Simon Tylere, living in the parish of St Giles without Cripplegate, and others made an insurrection with other felons and traitors of the lord king against the said lord king and his aforesaid loyal subjects on the [said] Friday and year, and feloniously and traitorously entered the abbey of St Peter, Westminster, and feloniously and traitorously took Richard de Imworth, marshal of the lord king, before the same king at the tomb of St Edward, Westminster, lying in his prayers, and brought him out of the aforesaid church and feloniously and traitorously killed him. Item, they present that John Placydacy of We..., carpenter, was the principal insurrector, [who], together with the other felons and traitors of the lord king, made an insurrection against the same lord king and his loyal subjects on Friday next after the feast of Corpus Christi in the aforesaid year, and feloniously and traitorously knocked down the houses of Thomas Braunesby at Charing Cross in the vill of Westminster, and feloniously took and carried away his books and other goods and chattels to the value of £20, found there. Item, they present that Nicholas Croydon, fishmonger of King's Lynn, and William his son, living within the sanctuary of the abbey of St Peter, Westminster, and John Leveryngton, tailor of Westminster, made an insurrection together with other insurrectors, and went in the company of the aforesaid insurrectors on the aforesaid day and places. Item, they present that John Payntor, draper of London, on Friday next after the feast of Corpus Christi in the fourth year of the reign of King Richard II, by force and arms, with insurrectors, men of the counties of Essex and Kent, and with an open standard, entered the abbey of [St Mary] Graces in the county of Middlesex, and there compelled the abbot and convent of the said abbey to seize one foreign man in the chamber of the abbey there against the peace, etc. Item, they present that Nicholas Wyttele of London and Robert Hull, shipman of London, on the aforesaid day and year, by force and arms, with the aforesaid insurrectors entered the aforesaid abbey and forced the said abbot to send one monk with them to London to give seisin in diverse tenements of the said abbot and convent, etc. Item, they present that Richard de Uttokcestre, parson of the church of Lynyng..., on Friday next after the feast of Corpus Christi, etc, feloniously and traitorously caused to forewarn Richard Mugge of Westminster and diverse other felons and traitors of the lord king, insurrectors against the said lord king and his loyal subjects, to take Richard de Imworthe, marshal of the lord king, lying in his prayers at Westminster at the tomb of St Edward within the church of the abbey of St Peter, Westminster. Which same Richard Mugge and the others, by the procurement, abetment and aid of the aforesaid Richard de Uttokcestre, feloniously and traitorously took the aforesaid Richard Imworthe on the aforesaid day and year and place, and brought him out of the aforesaid church, and feloniously and traitorously killed the same man, and they say precisely that the aforesaid Richard de Uttokcestre was the cause of the death of the aforesaid Richard de Imworthe and one of the aforesaid principal insurrectors.
