Text (English translation)Cambridgeshire John Oresere, Thomas Frost, Thomas Porter of Ickleton, Thomas Smyth of Ickleton, John Mercer of Ickleton, John Roger, Thomas Roger, and Henry Songer of Ickleton were attached to answer to William Kyrkeby of Ashley in a plea of why they assaulted the same William at Ickleton with force and arms, and beat, wounded, imprisoned and ill-treated him, and kept him there in prison until the same William had made fine in 100 shillings with the aforesaid John, Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, John, John, Thomas and Henry to have his deliverance, and other outrages etc., and against the king's peace etc. And on this the same William in his own person makes complaint that the aforesaid John, Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, John, John, Thomas and Henry, on the Sunday immediately following the feast of Corpus Christi, in the fourth year of the reign of the present lord king, with force and arms, that is, with swords, bows and arrows, assaulted the same William at Ickleton, and beat, wounded, and imprisoned him - namely from the aforesaid Sunday for the three days then immediately following - and ill-treated him, and held him there in prison until the same William had made fine in 100 shillings with the aforesaid John, Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, John, Johan and Henry to have his deliverance etc. and other outrages etc. to his great harm etc. and against the king's peace etc.; concerning which he says that he has been injured and has damages to the value of 20 pounds.
