Item dicunt quod Iohannes Clerke senior de Tremeleye Sancte Marie capitales congregator et sustentor in diversis villis in hundredo de Colneyse tempore levacionis modo guerrino et contra dignitate corone domini Regis venit in villam de Levyngton die dominica proxima post festum corporis Christi anno supradicto et ibidem clausum et domos Walteri de Stratton felonice intravit cum multis aliis ignotis et ibidem bona et catalla dicti Walteri videlicet braseum pannos lineos et lanas ad valenciam x s. felonice depredavit et asportavit.
Text (English translation)Colneis The jurors present that Sarlot Martyn, Roger But of Harwich and John de Welles of Walton at the time of the rising in a warlike manner and against the dignity of the crown feloniously and fraudulently came with many others unknown to the village of Walton on Tuesday 18th June 1381 and there feloniously entered the manor of Walton belonging to the Countess of Norfolk, and falsely and feloniously destroyed and burnt court rolls, rentals and all other muniments pertaining to the manor, to the damage of the aforesaid countess of 100 marks. Also they say that John Clerke senior of Trimley St Mary, chief congregator and supporter in various villages in the hundred of Colneis at the time of the rising, in a warlike manner and against the dignity of the crown came to the village of Levington on Sunday 16th June 1381 and feloniously entered the close and houses of Walter de Stratton with many others unknown and there feloniously plundered and carried away goods and chattels of the said Walter, namely grain, pans, linen and wool, worth 10 s.
