3577 | John Scot threatens Mabel wife of John Sigar | And another inquisition taken at Cambridge says that on the same Sunday, John Scot of Milton came with other men, whose names are unknown, to Lolworth, to the house of John Sigar, and threatened Mabel his wife, saying that he would pull down the houses of the said John Sigar, unless he granted to Roger atte Cherche and other men full seisin of certain lands in Girton, Howes and Madingley. And [Scot] has been arrested, and brought before the sheriff, and questioned as to how he wishes to answer to the charges. And he says that he is not guilty, and places himself upon his country. And the jury aforesaid are adjourned until the justices have another mandate from the king on which to make a decision. And on this Henry Scot, Thomas Scot, Bartholomew Knyth and Thomas Wylot stood surety for him to be in court from day to day until a lawful means has been decided upon. And this, whichever of them body for body, under penalty of £100 paid to the king under the aforesaid condition. | Howes,Northstow Hundred,Cambridgeshire; Madingley,Cambridgeshire; Lolworth,Cambridgeshire; Girton,Cambridgeshire | Mainpernor | View Incident page |
