Short DescriptionWilliam Geldere incites others to despoil John Reed of Rougham
DetailsWilliam Geldere of Feltwell was a chief leader of wrongdoers in this rumour, and with many others unknown so incited, and they threatened Osbert de Mundesford and Benedict de Hocham to rise up with them against the king's peace on Monday 17th June 1381 at the time of the uprising and (the) rumour, and that the aforesaid Osbert and Benedict in fear of their imminent beheading and despoiling of their goods rode with them. And the aforesaid William and others aforesaid unknown despoiled John Reed at Rougham of all the goods and chattels they found there in his messuage, the which chattels were worth £10, and he broke the doors and windows of the aforesaid messuage, assuming to himself royal power in prejudice of king and his crown.
