Short Description | Petition from the good people of Beverley complaining of crimes committed by rebels |
Details | The good people request remedy and that the malefactors who have come to London and who threaten the good people's lives be charged to answer why they have come thus, and that Courcy and others be charged to say the truth of the rebellions made by the malefactors and that the good people are able to return and reside without impeachment. It was proclaimed that all burgesses and other commoners be at the great hall of Beverley before Bigot and Middleton under pain of forfeiture and imprisonment, and when they came they sealed a blank ragman and were charged to go to London to maintain the evils against the good people. Many went against their will and many horses were stolen from the common pasture. Response: [None]. |
