Details | Thomas Berghestode of Gillingham and John Wyse of the parish of Meopham were said to be amongst the first of the people of Gillingham to rise and to have threatened the people that unless they came with them they would behead them and break their houses on 7th June 1381, and afterwards on 9th June they did the same. And also on the 9th June the said Thomas and John entered the chambers of William and Thomas de Bedemanton and took and carried away charters and other muniments. |
