DetailsJulia wife of Richard Pouchere of Maidstone went on 11th June 1381 to meet with men of Canterbury and of the county of Essex who had arisen [...] Alan Deghere keeper of Maidstone gaol and John Graye his servant so that they led them from the said Alan and John by which the said sustainers and wrongdoers threw down and destroyed the said gaol, similarly threatening to throw down and destroy the house of Alan himself. And so [....] to punish by death until Alan made a fine with the said maintainer and disturber of the peace viz. John Hales of Malling [...] wrongdoer and disturber of the peace of the said lord King.
