| Text (English translation) | Memorandum that an allegation was made to the King's Council that John Laurence procured various people of the county of Berkshire and elsewhere to rise with other commons and had a roll which contained many names of the worthy people of the country who were to be killed and their houses destroyed. By reason of this suggestion John Syfrewast by command of the said council went to the house of the said John Laurence and finding the same John Laurence alone without anyone else or anything suspicious he took the said John and led him to Windsor Castle and as well as that he asked many men about the reputation of the said John Laurence who said that he was of good fame and nobody knew anything but good of him |
