| Text (English translation) | 1381. Sept. 13. Westminster. Order to Robert de Goldyngton, escheator in the county of Essex, on information that John Somenour, Robert Piers, John Gernoun, William Chamberlayn, Robert Waleys, John Dawe and Robert Vyne of Manningtree have suddenly withdrawn themselves on account of certain matters whereof they are accused, to cause all the goods of the said persons in his bailiwick, in whosever hands they shall be found, to be arrested without delay and seized into the king's hand in the presence and by survey of William Berland, the king's controller of the office of the escheatry in the said county, and to have them put in safe keeping until further order, so that answer can be made to the king therefor if the goods be adjudged to him, and to certify the king in the Chancery before the eighth day after the Exaltation next, under his seal and the seal of the said controller, touching the said goods, how many they are, of what sort they are, where they are, and of what value they are.
