Text (English translation) | Patent Roll, 5 Ric. II, Part 2, m. 16d 24 May 1382 Westminster Commission of oyer and terminer to William de Skypwyth, Thomas Hungerford, Robert Howard, Roger de Walisham, Roger de Boys and John Plays, on complaint by the master and scholars of the house of Corpus Christi and St Mary, Cambridge, of the patronage of the king's uncle, John, duke of Lancaster, that Edmund Litster, John Heriz, Hugh Candelesby, Richard Martyn, Robert Brigham, John Tryppelowe, Robert Baylham, John Berle, draper, John Marchal, John Maskerell, Thomas Tryvet, Robert Barbour, William Comberton and others broke their close, houses and common chest, besides other chests of theirs, at Cambridge, having first made proclamation to all to come to the college to destroy and spoil it, carried away timber, doors and windows, books, jewels and others goods, tore up some charters and muniments and carried away others, and hunted for and threatened to kill them, the master and scholars, and assaulted their servants.
