Text (English translation)Writ to William Walworth ordering all indictments against William Bynleye made before Walworth and his fellow justices assigned to hear and determine treasons, felonies, trespasses and other misdemeanours in London and its suburbs to be sent to King's Bench. 28 November 1381. Inquisition of the views of the parishes of St Martin Ironmonger Lane [St Martin Pomory] and St Stephen Coleman Street taken at the Guildhall London on 6 September 1381 in the presence of William Walworth knight mayor of the said city and his fellow justices of the Lord King to hear and determine concerning various treasons, homicides and felonies done and perpetrated both in the city of London and in the counties of Middlesex and Surrey on the oath of John Hakeneye William Conyng Peter Joynour John Daventre John Freme William Wayte Stephen Wasthuse John White Thomas Clerc Roger atte Hathe John Hauchirche and John Halyngbury who say on their oath that William Bynleye of Coventry winedrawer on 12 June 1381 from his own will and without any coercion of others treasonably rose up in the company of many malefactors and was constantly in their company during many misdeeds both in the city of London aforesaid and in the suburbs of the same as well as in the counties of Middlesex and Surrey from 12 June 1381 to 15 June 1381 and at night in that time feloniously despoiled whenever he could in the said city and counties the goods of many men whose names the said jurors do not know. The said jurors do not know anything in particular concerning William Bynleye and the said felonies and treason. And for this reason the same William Bynleye afterwards withdrew and fled to the church of St Martin Ironmonger Lane in the ward of Cheap, London, on 6 September 1381.
