Text (English translation) | John Wellyng of Beverley, who appears for our lord king, appeals Richard de Beston, Thomas de Preston, skinner, and ?Loos de Frampton, haberdasher, who come before Lord Robert Tresulyane, chief justice of our lord king as traitors to our lord the king, as they feloniously and traitorously rose up the poor commoners of the town of Beverley against the great subjects of our said lord king, and they assembled on diverse routes to the number of 300 sometime on the morning of Tuesday 21 May, viz against Adam Coppendall, Thomas de Beverle, William Dudhill and others of the same town, and pulled and knocked down to the ground one house of the said Adam, and pulled down and carried off the timber, the roof, the walls from the house of Thomas Gervays and his wife, and trapped them within their house, encroaching to themselves royal power, to the prejudice of the crown and the destruction of the good subjects of our said lord king, as an example throughout the whole of England, and by mainforce forced Adam Coppendall to make an obligation of £100, and Thomas de Beverlee another obligation of £400, and many others for diverse sums against their wills. And if the said Richard, Thomas de Preston and Joos are traitors to our said lord king, or if they wish to deny the same, John de Wellyng, who appears for the king [...] according to the judgement of the court.
